The Gearrannan Blackhouse village, on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis, consists of nine carefully restored traditional thatched cottages, and the last blackhouses (Gaelic houses with dry-stone walls packed with earth, wooden beams and a straw roof) to be inhabited in the Outer Hebrides.
