To the north of Suspiros Bay lies a portion of the Madder Cliffs, rising to about 305m (their peaks visible above the ice). It was named in 1956 by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee, after the red colour of the rocks (after madder, a red vegetable pigment). Gentoo and Adélie penguins are nesting here.
