| A statue of Gastown's founder, "Gassy" Jack Deighton, a Yorkshire steamboat captain who arrived in 1867 to open the first saloon, on Water and Carrall Streets. The city's downtown moved here after the 1886 Great Fire razed most of the newly incorporated city. |
