| Looking west down Rue Mariotte to the twin towers of the gothic Dijon Cathedral, dating from 1325. It is dedicated to Saint Benignus of Dijon, the first herald of Christianity in Burgundy, martyred (beaten to death by an iron bar, and his heart pierced) in 275AD for openly proselytising Christianity. |
