| Along the riverside close to the Presidential Palace is a statue of king Chao Anouvong, last ruler of the Kingdom of Vientiane before it became a vassal of Siam in 1828. It was erected in 2010, to coincide with the 450th anniversary celebrations of Vientiane. |
