| Kandy Lake is a man-made lake, created in 1807 by Sri Wickrana Rajasinha, the last ruler of the city and lying in the heart of Kandy, the last capital of the ancient "Kings' era" of Ceylon (as Sri Lanka was known then) before British colonial forces took control from the Dutch in 1815. |
