| Looking south across Chinggis Square in the heart of Ulaan Baatar, the Mongolian capital. Originally the site of a monastery and temple, it was razed shortly after the revolution in 1921 that eventually saw Mongolia - with the assistance of the Soviet Red Army - claim full independence from China in 1924. |
