| Constructed in 1955 as a "gift" from the Soviets to Poland, the Palace of Culture and Science stands as Poland's tallest building at 230m tall and visible virtually anywhere in the city. Even today, it is not well liked by residents, still seen as a symbol of Soviet domination.
