| Standing in Praça Alagoas, in the heart of Centro, Rio's colonial core. Along its western edge stands the Pedro Ernesto palace, built in 1920 to house the Brazilian Parliament, but is now occupied by Rio's City Council when the capital moved inland to Brasilia in 1960. |
