| Looking over the northern edge of the Makgadikgadi salt pans, one of the world's largest, in the middle of the dry savanna in north-eastern Botswana. The pan is all that remains of the former Lake Makgadikgadi, which once covered an area larger than Switzerland, but dried up several thousand years ago. |
