| Standing across from the Town Hall, the Paris Gate is a remnant of the ancient walls around the city of Lille. Rebuilt at the end of the 17th century into a triumphal arch to celebrate the victories of king Louis XIV (r. 1643-1715), it was classified as a historic monument in 1875. |
