| One of Reykjavík's main landmarks is the Lutheran Hallgrímskirkja (Hallgrímur's Church), the tallest church in the country and designed to resemble the basalt lava flows of Iceland's landscape. It took 38 years to build, mostly out of concrete, and was consecrated in 1986.
