| Housing the Roman Senate for 700 years until Italian unification in 1870, the Senatorial Palace on Rome's Capitoline Hill is actually an old castle, redesigned with help from Michelangelo in 1538. In the centre of the piazza stands an equestrian statue of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius. |
