Beyond the port's customs and immigrations check is the FRS "fast-ferry" from Tangier to Tarifa, the southernmost point in Spain (and mainland Europe), crossing the Strait of Gibraltar in a surprising 35min; a conventional ferry usually takes 2hrs.
