| The 17th century New Convent of Santa Clara was built across the river from the city when the original (Convento de Santa Clara-a-Velha) was washed away by rising river levels. The 14th century tomb of queen Isabel - wife to king Dinis (r.1279-1325) - was moved to here as a consequence. |
