| Anıtkabir ("memorial tomb") is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish War of Independence (1919-23) following the post-WWI dissolution of the Ottoman Empire, and the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey. It opened in 1953 after 9 years' construction, in central Ankara.
