| Within walking distance on the same site as the travertine pools of Pamukkale are the extensive ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Hierapolis. This theatre, erected in the third century AD, could seat more than 12,000, and was carefully restored by Italian stonecutters in the 1970s. |
