Qianmen, literally the "front gate", bordering the southern edge of Tian'anmen Square in central Beijing. It is the city's largest, the last remnants of the old city walls, considered the proper entrance to Beijing's inner city. It was built during the Ming Dynasty, and dates from 1419.
