| The Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, best known as Chairman Mao's mausoleum, dominating the southern half of Tian'anmen Square. Inside lie the embalmed remains of the founder of Communist China, Mao Zedong, on public display since 1977 (only a year after he died), under constant armed guard. |
