| The Zagreb Cathedral, located in Kaptol (one of Upper Zagreb's old cores) is the city's best-known building. Ottoman advances in the Balkans prompted the erection of a fortified watch-tower (centre-right of picture) in the 17th century, but an 1880 earthquake forced a rebuild into its current form. |
