Rome's best-known fountain is the impressive baroque Fontana di Trevi (Three Roads Fountain), designed by Nicola Selvi in 1732, depicting the sea god Neptune's chariot lead by Tritons with sea-horses - one docile, one wild - to represent the various moods of the sea.
