| At the end of Queen Street across the Ferry Building stands a controversial 3m-tall bronze statue enveloped in a Kaitiaki cloak. The statue was commissioned by the city in 1964 and completed in 1967, to greet visitors and new settlers arriving in Auckland by ship. |
