| Looking north along the western wall of the Kazan Kremlin, the city's historic citadel. Tsar Ivan IV "the Terrible" had it built on the ruins of the former castle of Kazan khans, after conquering them in the mid-16th century. It was declared a World Heritage Site in 2000. |
