| Originally a citadel built in 1434 and fortified by the Danish between 1525-9 (Scania was a part of Denmark at that time), the Malmö Castle was enlarged again once under the control of the Swedish in 1658. It later served as a prison, before being converted into a present-day museum and aquarium.
