| The impressive Library of Celsus, built for the governor of Asia Minor (of which Ephesus was the capital) senator Tiberius Julius Celsus Polemaeanus and completed between 114-7AD, storing 12,000 scrolls and serving as the governor's tomb. Destroyed by an earthquake in 262AD, it was re-erected between 1970-8. |
