| One in a set of preserved war-trenches dug in the 1915 Allied-Ottoman battles for the Gelibolu (Gallipoli) peninsula in WWI, just outside the Chunuk Bair war memorial. The Allies used the peninsula in an attempt to capture Constantinople, but were repelled after eight months' fighting by Ottoman forces. |
