| At the apse of the central nave on the other side of the baldachin lies the Altar of the Chair of Saint Peter (which tradition states was used by Saint Peter, the first pope, as Bishop of Rome), crafted by Bernini in 1666, to enclose the wooden throne. The fine alabaster window shows the Holy Spirit as a dove. |
