| One of the basilica's well-known monuments is one of Bernini's masterpieces, built between 1671-8 (11 years after the pope's death): Alexander VII, kneeling in prayer, is undisturbed by Death, brandishing an hour-glass indicating time passed. He is served by the virtues Charity, Truth, Prudence and Justice. |
