| In central Klaksvík, the second-largest town in the north of the country, stands Christian's Church, dating from 1963 and built in the memory of, and named after, the king of Denmark Christian X (r. 1912-47). Built of local basalt blocks, it was designed without any integral towers, reminiscent of older Faroese wooden churches or classical Viking buildings. |
