| Walking along the north-western corner of Shwedagon Pagoda. Historians and archaeologists state the pagoda was built by the Mon people between the 6th-10th centuries AD. Subsequent earthquakes have damaged the site: a major one in 1768 toppled the central zedi, carefully raised again to its current height. |
