| The Church of Saint Dominic, next to the Teatro Nacional just off the north-eastern end of Rossio, dedicated in 1241. In April 1506, the church and its square were the scenes of the Lisbon massacre, when thousands of New Christians (previously converted Jews) were murdered by a Christian mob; only the intervention of king Manuel I's guards ended the mutiny. |
