| A short distance from the St. George's Cathedral is Greenmarket Square, dating from 1696 and one of Cape Town's oldest marketplaces, originally a trading area for passing ships, and later in the apartheid-era as a focus for political protests. While today it still hosts market stalls, it is also a popular dining district. |
