| Looking north from Misraħ San Ġwann (Saint John's Square) to the cathedral's conventional entrance. The exterior looks rather austere and reminiscent of a fortress, reflecting both the architect's style as a military engineer (built between 1572-7) as well as the mood in the years following the Great Siege in 1565.
