| Zoo Park, in central Windhoek, was the site of the city's former zoo until 1962. In the middle of the park stands the controversial Kriegerdenkmal (War Memorial), dedicated in 1897 to the memory of German Schutztruppe soldiers who died in the Nama wars of 1893-4. |
