| Walking east along the covered al-Hamidiyya Souq; it is about 600m long and 15m wide, and dates back to the Ottoman era. The corrugated iron cover is perforated by bullet-holes, a parting gift from French airplanes brutally supressing an anti-colonial insurgent rebellion on 9 May 1926. |
