| At the end of the Great Colonnade is an impressive monumental arch, dating from the reign of Roman emperor Septimus Severus (r. 191-211AD), when Palmyra was at its peak. It's actually two arches at a 30 degree angle, aiming towards the Temple of Bel (behind). |
