| The citadel's sole entrance is via this fortified gate, an addition from a Mamluk sultan in the 16th century. It was badly damaged in August 2012 after being shelled in a clash between government and opposition forces during the Syrian Civil War, but reopened in early 2018 with repairs underway. |
