| The Old South Meeting House, on the corner of Washington and Milk Streets, is a historic Congregational church, completed in 1729. In 1773, around 5,000 people met here to debate British taxation; immediately afterwards, a group raided three British tea ships anchored nearby and dumped 342 chests of tea into the water, in what became known as the Boston Tea Party. |
