| An iconic feature in Central Park is Belvedere Castle, a miniature castle standing over the Vista Rock outcrop, the park's second-highest point. Completed in 1872, it was designed as an open-air look-out tower; since 1919 has housed Central Park’s official weather station from the US National Weather Service, and today also houses a visitor information centre. |
