| At the southern end of the Company's Garden stands the South African National Gallery, built in 1930 with mostly European works from the 17th-19th centuries. A statue of Field Marshall Jan Smuts, the twice-former South African prime minister (1919-24, 1939-48) and military leader, stands here. |
