| Government House, the residence of the Falkland Islands' London-appointed Governors since it was built in 1845, in western Stanley. Ernest Shackleton stayed here in 1916 during his Antarctic Expedition, and was the site of a major battle against Argentine forces during the 1982 Falklands War. |
