| Standing at the northern half of Szabadság tér (Liberty Square) - one of Budapest's largest - stands the Heroic Soviet (or Communist) monument, reflecting Hungary's history in the Warsaw Pact as a Soviet satellite state. It's one of very few that's actually allowed to remain in former Communist countries.
