The rear grounds of Buda Castle; the front looks east over the Danube. Built in the 14th century, the royal residence was destroyed by the Ottomans (1686), then rebuilt by the Hapsburgs only to be burned down by revolutionaries (1849). Today it houses two museums and the national library.
