| Dominating the end of Birgu's peninsula is Fort Saint Angelo, fortified since the 9th century AD. It was rebuilt and stengthened in 1530 and served as the residence of the Grand Master of the Knights Hospitaller, and the headquarters of the entire Great Siege of the 1560s (its entrance is right of picture). |
