| Standing in a courtyard off to the side of the University of Tirana stands a statue of Catholic nun Mother Teresa, born to Albanian parents in Skopje, Macedonia (part of the Ottoman Empire at the time). The square at the southern end of central Tirana (and the university, unofficially) is named after her.
