| The Basilique nationale du Sacré-Cœur/Nationale Basiliek van het Heilig-Hart, located on Koekelberg Hill in Elisabeth Park, western Brussels.Inspired by the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Paris, king Leopold II laid the first stone in 1905 during the 75th anniversary of Belgian independence. Its construction was halted by both World Wars, and finished only in 1970. |
