| To the south of Walvis Bay (the shipping container cranes over its freight harbour can be seen in the distance to the north-west, right of picture) stretches its shallow lagoons, a rich wetlands attracting a range of coastal water birds, especially flocks of flamingos, feeding on rich surface algae. |
