| Heading east along the unsealed C14 highway through the Namib Desert, nearly 100km east of Walvis Bay. The name Namib is of Khoi origin meaning "vast place". The desert is considered to be one of the oldest in the world, and the country, after gaining independence in 1990, named itself after the desert. |
