| Looking down the central nave of the Church of Saint Julian, off Praça de Bocage. It was the Duke of Aveiro's private chapel in the 13th century, which king Manuel I rebuilt in the 1510s, only to be hit by a 1531 earthquake, then nearly destroyed in the 1755 earthquake. The walls bear 18th-century azulejos (ceramic tiles) depicting scenes from the life of Saints Julian and Basilissa. |
