| Looking over the South Pool of the World Trade Center Memorial, formerly the basement of 2 World Trade Center (South Tower), created in 2011 to commemorate the 11 September attacks of 2001, killing 2,977 people; victims' names are inscribed on the parapets surrounding the waterfalls. The 541-metre One World Trade Center, opened in 2014, stands over the site. |
